Karen Smith, BOst (Hons), MSCCO
I am proud to be an Osteopath - the job I dreamed of for 15 years. I retrained as an Osteopath in my 50s with the College of Osteopathy in partnership with Staffordshire University. My career until then was working in local government and the voluntary sector in the UK and healthcare accreditation in Sydney, Australia. I am the proud mum of two young men who have benefited from osteopathy since they were babies. I first found osteopathy after the stillbirth of my first son when I received supportive and individualised care from an Osteopath. Alongside helping patients of all ages including babies my vision is to provide you with the supportive, individualised care that I have always received from osteopathy for over twenty years. I combine my skills in structural and cranial osteopathy to adapt my approach to what you need.

Osteopathy treatments in Halifax at Just Osteopathy
I work as an associate Osteopath in Halifax, Calderdale, where I have lived for over 25 years. I have undertaken post graduate training to further develop my cranial osteopathy treatments to patients including treating babies, and I am a member of the Sutherland College of Cranial Osteopathy (SCCO). In 2024, I was fortunate to be awarded a scholarship to complete the 5-day flagship course, ‘Osteopathy in the Cranial Field’ at the SCCO.
I am registered with the General Osteopathic Standards Council, the regulatory body governing Osteopaths (reg. number 11491), and I am a member of the Institute of Osteopathy, the professional association for Osteopaths, committed to the support and development of the osteopathic profession.
Rising Star Award
I was awarded ‘Rising Star of 2023’ by the Institute of Osteopathy, which recognises those at the start of their careers who have shown a commitment to their study of Osteopathy and an aspiring commitment to continue the development of the profession. In 2025, I was a finalist in the same ‘Rising Star of 2025’ awards and Just Osteopathy was a finalist in the category of small osteopathic practice of the year.
